What most people
don't realize is that your roof is your only defense you have against the
elements. Its what keeps rain, snow and ice out and keeps everything inside
dry. The same goes for your siding whether its wood or vinyl. It has to be
installed and cared for right in order to protect your home. Most
installations are done fast and inefficient and in the long run it hurts you
the customer because the products aren't being used or installed properly.
When it comes time to
replace your roof or your having a new one installed its best to do your home
work on the products that are going to be installed and used on your home. Look
to see what the manufacturer recommends. Check the average life span of the
roof. Also check to see what other products that are going to be used on your
home and what their manufacturer recommends for proper installation. Such as
ridge vents and gutters. The same goes for your siding. All manufacturers
have different warranties and installation methods. It is best to know this so
you can have a good education on what is going to be installed on your home.
Most manufacturers have a
recommended installation method. On each of our roofing projects we go beyond what is
recommend to ensure that our customers have a very high quality finished
product when completed. For instance most roofing installers just put
down felt paper under their shingles. We put down a self- adhesive ice and
water barrier over the entire roof. This is like having a second defense
against the elements and allows you to have a better finished product.
